Breakfast
The café opens at 6:30 each morning w/ fresh baked arrivals from our off site kitchen. Linnaea’s legendary coffee cake is always available, while the morning glory muffin w/ a cup of freshly brewed, organic, fair trade coffee nourishes the soul as well as the body.
Delicate scones, fruit filled muffins, vegan blackberry bran muffins, the best waffles you have ever tasted, rice pudding, apple cinnamon oatmeal, granola parfaits, “espresso eggs” & savory breakfast burritos fill out the simple yet satisfying menu.
Lunch
Monday through friday we prepare & serve lunch using fresh, & as-local-as-possible ingredients.
We like to view it kind of like “going home for dinner… what ever mom made is what there is to eat”. One day it might be eggplant parmesan, another day could be spinach feta quiche, cheese enchiladas or perhaps polenta w/ ratatouille. The entrée is always vegetarian & always different.
Along w/ the entrée there is a choice of two salads, a daily soup, & a “sloroll”: our closest thing to a sandwich.
Dinner
Dinner being served at linnaea’s started very organically (like so many other things at linnaea’s). It was a quiet monday night & ryan & jason were looking for something to do. Wouldn’t you know it there was left over waffle batter. So… out came the waffle iron, the whipped cream, a few bananas, a jar of nutella & lo & behold waffle night was born! Years later it is still our most popular evening meal.
The remaining week nights we serve a hearty soup such as creamy curried split pea, mushroom barley, rustic red lentil, or creamy quinoa cauliflower. Generally the soup or stew is served w/ french bread.
Desserts
Wow, where to begin. Well, w/ the carrot cake of course! People travel hundreds of miles for our carrot cake, local bakers have taken it apart & scrutinized it trying to copy the recipe. There-is- no- topping it. Hands down it is the best carrot cake you will ever eat!
Hard on the heels of the carrot cake are the many flavors of vegan cakes, cheesecakes, multi-layer cakes, gluten free cakes, cupcakes, & fruit pies. Try the apple pie in the fall. We get the apples from gopher glen in see canyon & my oh my what a pie.
Then there are the numerous cookie & bar options, way too many to mention but a good portion of them are gluten free or vegan & often sometimes both. Current favorites are the raspberry rhubarb oat square, the gluten free brownies & the best seller by far, the chocolate chip oatmeal cookie.
